A bus ride with Lord Mandelson

A couple of weeks ago I was asked to photograph Business Secretary, Lord Mandelson when he visited Guildford, along with Energy & Climate Change Secretary, Ed Miliband and transport minister, Sadiq Khan.

After being met at Guildford Station, the three were then taken by a special bus to the Alexander Dennis factory, which was launching its fleet of new environmentally friendly vehicles. 

This was the second time that I have taken photographs on a moving bus and despite a few unsteady moments going round corners, I secured the shots I needed!

Following a quick tour round some key areas of the factory, and a chat with staff, the visitors completed a series of media interviews and posed for photographs, before boarding the bus again and heading back to London.

The available light in the factory was quite dim in some areas, so it was a case of dragging the shutter slightly for some of the shots.

Nearer to the entrance, I was able to use available light only.

I wasn't going to miss this one!

Baby Portrait Session - Surrey

A couple of weeks ago, I spent a lovely morning with this delightful family, photographing their 6 week-old baby boy.

I had a great time photographing them all and when he fell asleep midway through, it was the ideal opportunity to get some beautiful shots.

Sussex Walk

On Saturday we walked from Glynde, taking in some beautiful Sussex landscapes on the way, and ending up in the lovely town of Lewes for a wander around the shops including a stop-off at my favourite place, Bill's. 

Our first stop was Glynde Church, and then past the post office.

I don't think this tea room was open, but I couldn't resist the sign!

Food Shoot - Guildford

It's not often I get to photograph food, so doing these shots for a local deli last week was great fun and unlike people, food doesn't move or answer back!  The Fooderie in Swan Lane, Guildford is a great place to buy real food; it sells handmade sandwiches, gorgeous cakes, salads and lots of other treats.

These were shot mostly using natural light, with the occasional bit of diffused flash in darker areas. 

 

Teenage Urban Portrait Session

A few weeks ago I photographed this beautiful teenager in Guildford.  I was spoilt for choice with both outfits and locations, and we ended up taking some shots by the river and some more in the town centre.  Urban sessions are great for everyone from teens to artists and performers who want something a bit different for their portfolio.  They're also perfect for prom year portraits.

I love all the different blues in this shot, and the tattoo!
